Cleaning your towbar properly is a lot easier than one might think. Being the commodity it is, a towbar often gets dirty quite fast. Since no one enjoys dirt stains on their trousers having loaded the boot of the car, the towbar should be cleaned from time to time. Splashing it with water is often enough using the water tube or the watering can. Care products must not bei used. When greasing the trailer coupling please consider that this is not recommended whenever vibration dampers are in use. The used greasing would restrict the functionality of the dampers.
When it comes to the mounting of the detachable towbar, cleaning it with water is sufficient. The mounting has been constructed in a way where no dirt can stick to it so that no further cleaning is necessary. However, this is different concerning the socket, whose inside should not be cleaned with water. Clearly, this is not only not conducive for the electronic but also not necessary since the inside of the socket rarely gets dirty, if at all. Should there, however, be dirt using a soft towel is best to clean the socket’s inside.
It is one of the most popular German cars on the market: The VW Passat (B8) comes along in a high-quality design and offers enough space on the inside. It is a modern car for the whole family, using our detachable towbar it can now be retrofitted and be used as a towing vehicle.

For some 40 years now MVG has been successfully developing, constructing and manufacturing towbars and electrical kits in original equipment quality for passenger cars, commercial and off-road vehicles.
Many years of experience, reliability, flexibility and excellent quality – these are the features that qualify MVG as a dependable system partner for the automotive industry and the car dealing business.
In the development and construction of our towbar systems we, at MVG, use state-of-the-art technology such as CAD and FEM (Finite Element Method). In this process we also take into account the individual wishes of the customer, such as attractive yet unobtrusive designs on the vehicle, as well as easy and quick fitting thanks to an excellent accuracy of fit and simple installation of the towbar on the vehicle.
MVG towbars are tested for maximum tow load capacities and D-values in accordance with European standards. Approval by the German (or other) technical agencies is not required.
Before everything goes into serial production extensive safety tests are carried out in our test centre. The fatigue strength of the towbars is tested on the basis of the European Guidelines 94/20/EG; ECE R55 or the test procedure Carlos TC – “Car Loading Standard Trailer Coupling”.
All MVG towbars can also be used for rear cycle carriers.
